Be a part of releasing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit across the nation of Sri Lanka, August 4–12, 2026! Encounter Missions is partnering with the local Catholic Church to bring missionaries into parishes and communities throughout the country to minister the healing love of Jesus and equip the faithful to move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This August, missionaries will serve alongside local priests and Catholic leaders, creating opportunities for people to encounter the living presence of God through evangelization, healing prayer, and Spirit-filled ministry.

Mission Details

• Mission Teams – Missionaries will serve in teams alongside local clergy and leaders across Sri Lanka. These teams will be sent into parishes, schools, and local communities to proclaim the Gospel and pray with those seeking healing, encouragement, and an encounter with the Lord.
• Ministry Opportunities – During the mission, teams will host healing services, minister in parishes and schools, and offer personal prayer ministry to those in need. 
• Active Ministry – For several days, missionaries will engage in outreach, evangelization, and healing ministry throughout the region. Through parish events, prayer ministry, and leadership formation, we will partner with the local Church to create space for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully.
• Retreat – After our days of active ministry, all missionaries will gather together for a Spirit-filled retreat. This time will be dedicated to spiritual renewal and reflection as we celebrate what the Lord has done throughout the mission.
• Retreat Opportunities – Rooted in the Sacraments through Daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and Confession, the retreat will include worship, testimony, fellowship, and time to reflect on the graces of the mission. Missionaries will also have opportunities to experience the beauty and culture of Sri Lanka while building lasting friendships with fellow missionaries.

What's Included

From the moment you clear customs in Sri Lanka to the moment we head back to the airport, we have you covered.

• Lodging: Double occupancy rooms — think your standard hotel stay. Bed, bathroom, shower, the works.
• Transportation: All ground transportation throughout your time in Sri Lanka.
• Food and Clean Water: We know that being in a foreign country can bring some anxiety around food and water access. We will provide all your meals, late-night snacks (we see you), and purified water throughout the trip.
• Mission Materials: Everything you need for your assigned area of ministry.
• 2-Day Retreat: At the close of our mission days, we will gather for rest, fellowship, prayer, the sacraments, and yes, more snacks.
• Travel Insurance: Every missionary will be fully covered for the duration of their time in Sri Lanka.
• Encounter Missions T-Shirt: We know this is what sealed the deal for you.

What's NOT Included

• Flights: Since missionaries are joining us from all over the world, we are not able to procure flights at a uniform cost. You will be responsible for your own airfare to and from Sri Lanka, in addition to the mission trip cost.
• Souvenir Money: If you would like to bring something home from your time on mission, plan to set aside a little extra for that.

Finances

• Deposits: ServiceReef uses the term "Application Fee" to refer to your deposit for the trip. Upon acceptance, your $500 deposit will be processed using the payment information you provided. Your deposit will count toward / is included in the total listed registration price.
• Payment Processing Fees: The industry standard for online payment processing providers is a company called Stripe and they charge 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. All donations and payments made toward your total registration cost will incur this processing fee.
• Making Payments: Using the "Make a Payment" option on your Servicereef's payment portal or sending your potential donors your personalized fundraising page is the surest and most convenient way to get your funds directly to you for this trip. Upon acceptance to the trip, you will be charged the $500 deposit (referred to as the "Application Fee" in ServiceReef). 

Fundraising

We know this is a sacrifice, and we want to honor that! Please do not let the cost keep you from saying yes. Through our fundraising platform, every missionary receives a personalized fundraising page that you can customize and share with those you feel led to invite into partnership with you. Fundraising is not about you, it's about the Lord. For many people, the Lord is not calling them to the mission field directly. For some, the way He calls them to mission is through financial support of those who are going. What a beautiful way to invite others into the mission alongside you. Do not be afraid to ask. The opportunity you extend may be exactly what someone in your friend/family member/coworker/neighbor has been waiting for. Let's not rob anyone of the chance to bless others!

What Happens Next?

Once you apply and are approved, you will receive links with next steps. Please note that approval requires contact with your references, so make sure they are reachable.

• Medical Questionnaire: We want to ensure you are physically prepared for what mission will involve.
• Safe Environment Training: Because we will be working with youth, all missionaries must comply with safe environment protocols. Requirements vary slightly by country, but regardless of where you are joining us from, you will need to provide documented proof of current safe environment certification.

Our desire is not simply to host events, but to pour into local leadership so that what the Lord begins will continue long after we leave. We long to see the faithful of Sri Lanka equipped to demonstrate the love of God in their families, workplaces, and parishes. We long to see those suffering from sickness, discouragement, and isolation encounter the reality of Abba Father’s love. The retreat portion at the end is not an add-on—it is essential. After pouring out, we come together to receive. We rest. We worship. We celebrate what the Lord has done—and we allow Him to deepen what He has begun in us.
